Self Defense • Discipline • Confidence • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) was developed in the early 1920’s and was derived from a style of Judo known as “Kano Jiu-Jitsu.” This style of martial art focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one’s opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. BJJ is one of the essential martial art forms of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitions and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Coral Springs BJJ students learn the techniques of BJJ for competitions, but also learn real life street defense to protect oneself and the family.  The instructors come from various police and law enforcement backgrounds with a vast knowledge in multiple martial arts styles, weapons training and survival skills.

Coral Springs Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Coral Springs BJJ was founded in 2011 and was conceptualized as family oriented martial arts school with kids (little champions), teenager high school defense, adult Gi and No-Gi classes, women’s specific, basic and advance firearms training. While our team competes in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) tournaments with larger based academies like American Top-Team and the Gracie University, CSBJJ school is much smaller where everyone is family.

Class sizes are also smaller than the larger academies to allow for a more individualized focus.  CSBJJ does not include “Katas” (which is the practice form fighting with no opponent) but rather includes rolling (physical one-on-one ground practice training) with other students and the professors. This allows for a more in depth understanding of concepts when put into practice, as opposed to “punching air”.  Our family (students and professors) prefers this style of personalized physical training and suggest if  you and are looking for a larger academy we would not be offended.  We can help you connect up with one of friends who operate another BJJ academy.

This is the way

Our academy (school) believes that Jiu-Jitsu should be available to everyone, no matter how advanced or a noob (beginner) one may be. Professor Eddie, Professor Jason and the rest of the instructor black belts have developed curriculums in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and self-defense for the entire family. Children learn in an encouraging environment that focuses on physical fitness, proper techniques, discipline, ethical treatment of fellow students and of course, having fun.  Adult classes vary depending on the student’s skill level and are focused to assist on proper techniques to the sport, physical fitness, tradition, street smarts, and wellbeing. Coral Springs BJJ offers both Gi, no-Gi, open mat, and self defense classes.
